Linguaskill

Linguaskill is a computer-delivered Cambridge English assessment of English language skills. The enhanced Linguaskill offers certification across CEFR levels B1 to C2. It can be relevant to people who need to demonstrate their English for study, employment or professional development. Always check whether the institution receiving your result accepts Linguaskill.

The enhanced Linguaskill assesses Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking as separate modules. Reading and Listening are adaptive: the questions respond to a candidate’s performance. Writing and Speaking assess productive language skills through computer-delivered tasks. Check Cambridge’s latest format information before preparing with older materials.

On the Cambridge English Scale, B1 corresponds to 140–159, B2 to 160–179, C1 to 180–199 and C2 to 200–210. An employer or university may require a specific score or scores in particular modules, so the CEFR label alone may not be sufficient.

Cambridge provides module-based results and a My Best Score arrangement subject to its current eligibility and validity rules. Whether a receiving organisation accepts combined or updated module results is a separate question. Confirm the rules with Cambridge and the organisation requesting your results.

C2 offers live, teacher-led Linguaskill preparation online or in Ireland. You can choose individual lessons or paired lessons where the two learners have compatible goals and levels. Your teacher works on the language skills and examination tasks most relevant to your needs, with personalised feedback on areas such as Writing and Speaking.

Linguaskill assesses English in general, educational and everyday contexts. Linguaskill Business focuses on business and workplace communication. The most appropriate version depends on what your university, employer or other receiving organisation requires.

Not at present. C2 provides Linguaskill preparation and intends to explore becoming an authorised Linguaskill examination provider, but we are not currently advertising examination bookings or claiming centre authorisation. Use Cambridge’s official information to find an authorised provider and confirm available dates.
